John Carter, leather-cutter and shoemaker, Jermyn street. Basil Burchell, vendor of patent medicines and anodyne necklaces for children, 79 Long Acre; his pierced tokens were attached to anodyne necklaces and boxes of sugar plums as a guarantee of their authenticity (Brooke,
CTCJ September 1999, pp.10-12). John Fowler (perhaps b.1756), tentatively identified by Samuel as an oil merchant and tinplate worker, 78 Long Acre (Dykes, BNJ 2000, pp.95-6)
