Covent Garden, Charles Presbury & Co, Halfpenny, bust of Elizabeth I in high ruff almost facing, rev. legend, edge payable in london, 10.27g/6h (DH 464). Usual die flaws and traces of alterations in the reverse die, small flan crack, otherwise extremely fine and patinated, extremely rare (£150-200)

Charles Presbury & Co, jewellers and hardware manufacturers, 9 New street, Covent Garden. The token utilises the
obv. die initially employed for the Chichester halfpence of Dally & Son (DH Sussex 15-17), combined with a rev. die which traditionally has been associated with John Stubbs Jorden and was perhaps produced c. 1797-8 (Dykes, BNJ 2001, pp.132-3). The order was countermanded by Presbury after about 36 pieces had been struck
