City Road, Thomas Hall, Halfpenny, small toucan standing left, head turned back, rev. the 1st artist in europe, etc, edge payable at london, 9.13g/12h (DH 318). Usual flaw through observers, extremely fine with almost full original colour, extremely rare, very few specimens known and this may well be the finest (£300-500)

This well-known rarity was absent from most of the important token auctions of the recent past, including Longman and Noble. The example in the Lincoln sale, in inferior condition to the present piece, sold for £5 15
s. in 1936
