D.C.M. London Gazette 2 February 1916; D.C.M. citation 11 March 1916: ‘For conspicuous gallantry on 6 Sep. 1915 at Anzac in a forward observing station. The station was destroyed by a high explosive shell, but Gunner Sutton, although slightly wounded and much shaken, at once procured another telephone and with great devotion, continued his work.’
