Oliver Long Robinson was born on 3 January 1867 and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, where he was for a time, a demonstrator of anatomy. Having qualified in medicine (M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. London.1890, D.P.H. 1907, M.R.C.P. London 1920), he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps in 1891. Much of his time was spent abroad but he was for a time secretary and registrar of the Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley. He was promoted Lieutenant-Colonel in 1913 and saw active service in the Great War, serving in Egypt, May 1915 - March 1916 and as A.D.M.S. to the 52nd Division, March 1916 - March 1917. In 1917 he was promoted Colonel and was appointed Honorary Physician to the King, a position he was to hold until 1927. For his wartime services he was mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 21 June 1916 and 6 July 1917) and awarded the C.M.G. in 1916 and C.B. in 1919. He attained the rank of Major-General in 1922 and held the post of Director of Medical Services in India, 1923-27. He was placed on Retired Pay in 1927 but was Colonel Commandant of the R.A.M.C. during 1932 - 37. He died on 21 May 1947. Sold with copied research.
