1914-15 Star (RMA 10257 Gr.); British War and Victory Medals (RMA 10257 Gr.); Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 1st issue (RMA 10257 Gunner, R.M.A.), mounted as worn, polished, good fine or better (4) £60-80

William David Everest was born at Edenbridge, Kent in April 1883 and entered the Royal Marine Artillery as a Gunner 2nd Class in October 1902. Advanced to Gunner at the end of the following year, he enjoyed several seagoing appointments before the outbreak of hostilities in August 1914, an event that found him serving in the cruiser H.M.S. Shannon. Coming ashore from her in September 1915, he next returned to sea in the battleship Thunderer in June 1916, and remained in her until the end of the War. Awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in January of the following year, Everest was discharged to the Royal Fleet Reserve in late 1923. He died in November 1959.
