Army L.S.G.C., W.IV.R. (Thomas Fish, Serjeant, 55th Regiment Foot, 1831) with original steel clip and straight bar suspension, nearly extremely fine £400-450

Thomas Fish was born in East Retford, Nottinghamshire. A weaver by trade, he attested into the 55th Foot at Colchester on 7 May 1810, aged 22 years. His service spanned 21 years 43 days, of which over 14 years was as a Serjeant. His early service included five years at the Cape of Good Hope and five months in Holland where he was present at the bombardment of Antwerp and the attack on Bergen-op-Zoom. He was discharged at Chatham at his own request on 18 June 1831. Sold with copied service papers.
