Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., Anchor obverse (William Collins, Blacksmith, H.M.S. Belvidera, 25 Years), pierced with ring suspension attached to ‘home-made’ silver metal band, old faded ribbon, slight edge bruise, good very fine £400-450

William Collins entered the Royal Navy in 1817, aged 24 years. He served mostly as an Armourer; becoming a Blacksmith in 1840. He was awarded the Royal Navy L.S.& G.C. with gratuity in March 1845. Sold with copied service paper. H.M.S. Belvidera was a frigate, launched in 1809 and hulked in 1846.
