Distinguished Service Cross, G.V.R., hallmarks for London 1918, unnamed as issued, in Garrard, London case of issue, extremely fine £300-350

Attributed to Lieutenant Trevor Louth, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who was awarded the D.S.C., London Gazette, 8 March 1920 (Honours for services in the Baltic) ‘For distinguished services on the occasion of the mining of H.M.M.L. 156.’ Louth was appointed Temporary Sub Lieutenant, R.N.V.R., 30 October 1917 and promoted Temporary Lieutenant on 30 October 1918; he was appointed to the command of H.M.M.L.156 on 30 July 1919 and relinquished his commission in 1920. Sold with an original letter from the Admiralty announcing the award of the D.S.C., dated 11 March 1920; the recipient at the time was living in Reading, Berkshire. Louth was decorated with the D.S.C. at Buckingham Palace on 24 April 1920.
