Naval General Service 1915-62, 1 clasp, Palestine 1936-1939 (J. 75401 C. E. Stannard, A.B., R.N.) obverse with surface scratch, very fine £60-70

Cecil Edward Stannard was born in Lewisham, London in March 1901 and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class at the training establishment Ganges in July 1917. His first seagoing appointment, between February 1918 and February 1920, was aboard the battle cruiser H.M.S. Renown, and he was advanced to Able Seaman in early 1921. Stannard served in various destroyers, cruisers and battleships between the Wars and was awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal in February 1935.
