John Finney was born in Stoke, Stafford c.1872 and enlisted into the 1st North Staffordshire Regiment in 1890 aged 18 years. He served in the Sudan expedition and was present at the action at Hafir, after which he served for six years in India, and in the U.K. for a further seven. He was discharged in 1911. Sold with copy service papers amd medal rolls.
