New Zealand 1845-66, reverse undated (Captn. G. H. Cope, 12th Regt.) minor edge bruise, good very fine £350-400

The only ‘G. H. Cope’ in the Army Lists of the period is George Harwood Cope, an Ensign with the 55th Foot in 1855; Lieutenant in 1857; with the 14th Foot in 1860; Captain in 1866; Major in 1878 and a Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in 1879. His service included that in the Crimea with the 55th Foot, subsequent to the fall of Sebastopol from November 1855 to the end of the campaign, and also that with the 14th Foot in New Zealand during the war of 1860-61.
