John Hart achieved the rank of Lieutenant with the 52nd Regiment in January 1814 and served with them in that capacity at the battle of Waterloo. In July 1821 he transferred with the same rank to the 4th Light Dragoons, attaining the rank of Captain in June 1825. Hart was placed on Half Pay in 1827.
