Waterloo 1815 (Edward Jones, 3rd Batt. Grenad. Guards) fitted with ornate silver bar suspension engraved ‘Peninsula’, this with Georgian hallmarks, and attractive silver Thistle, Rose and Shamrock ribbon slide, contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine £1000-1200

Edward Jones was born at Ruthin, Denbeighshire, circa 1792, and enlisted on 1 April 1813, a volunteer from the Denbeigh Militia. He served in Lieutenant-Colonel d’Oyly’s company at Waterloo, and was discharged in March 1817, in consequence of a wound received at Peronne on the 26th June 1815, which deprived him of his right eye. Sold with copy discharge papers and other research.
