Four: Staff Quartermaster Sergeant J. V. Gilligan, Army Service Corps, formerly, Corps of Military Staff Clerks, and 15th Hussars

Afghanistan 1878-80, no clasp (1147 Pte., 15th Hussrs.); Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, Suakin 1885 (Sergt., Mil. S. Clerk.); Army Meritorious Service Medal, E.VII.R. (S.Q.M. Serjt., A.S.C.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (Cr. Sgt., Genl. Staff) edge bruising, particularly to last, otherwise generally nearly very fine or better (4) £350-400

J. V. Gilligan enlisted in 1870, being promoted to the rank of Sergeant 1i 1882. He was recommended for an M.S.M. with annuity in March 1904, after being discharged as medically unfit (glaucoma in both eyes) on 31 August 1903. He had then served for 33 years and ten months including 13 years seven months in the 15th Hussars, 10 years and four months in the Army Service Corps, 8 years and five months in the Corps of Military Staff Clerks and one year 6 months on the Staff of the Army.
