John Nooney was born and lived in Wallasey, Cheshire and enlisted in Liverpool. He went to France with the original contingent of the 19th (3rd Pals) Battalion on 7 November 1915, and was killed in action in the attack on Guillemont Village, Somme on 30 July 1916. His name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. Sold with copied newspaper cutting, including picture of recipient.
