John Allen Martin was a ‘Fort Darland Boy’, having enlisted into the R.E. at Chatham in 1939. Immediately after the War he served with the 3rd Parachute Squadron R.E. in Java and Palestine. He was killed in a road accident in 1966, aged 42 years.
