Frederick William Sewell was born in Hadleigh and enlisted at Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Serving with the 1st Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment, he was killed in action, France / Flanders, 26 October 1917, aged 19 years. His name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
