Sold with two commision documents: 2nd Lieutenant, 2nd London Division, Cyclist Company Division Mounted Troops, 17 March 1915 and 2nd Lieutenant, The York and Lancaster Regiment, 28 December 1916; also with two newspapers - the Bognor Regis Observer and Bognor Regis Post 1951, giving obituaries of the recipient who was a former Council Chairman. Also a R.F.C. flying certificate, 16 May 1917 and a certificate of capability in riding, 17 October 1924; together with three reproduced photographs and various copied research.

Wilfred James Corbishley was born in 1887. He entered the War as a 2nd Lieutenant firstly with the Army Cyclist Corps and then with the York and Lancaster Regiment. During 1917-18 he served with the R.F.C. as an observer with No. 57 Squadron. He was wounded during operations on the Western Front on 28 July 1917, being shot down while on a bombing mission on Inglemunster. His obituary states he was shot down in combat with ‘Von Richthoffen’s Flying Circus’ and that he suffered a set of broken ribs and bullet through the nose. During April 1918 - January 1920 he was employed by the Air Ministry and afterwards served with the Royal Tank Corps in the Middle East.
