St. George Cross for Bravery London Gazette 25 August 1915.

William Dennis Villa was born in and enlisted at Shoeburyness, Essex. Serving as a Serjeant with the Royal Artillery, he was killed in action, France / Flanders, 3 March 1917, aged 23 years. He was buried in Courcelette British Cemetery, Somme, France. In a transcribed obituary it is stated he was mentioned in despatches three times.
