Hans George was born in Shankhill, Belfast and enlisted into the Munster Fusiliers in 1876, aged 18 years. He transferred to the Army Pay Corps in 1883. Appointed Staff Sergeant Major in 1894, he served with the Corps in South Africa between 20 October 1899 and 10 April 1901. George received the M.S.M. with an annuity of £5 on 8 May 1901. He joined the Yeoman of the Guard in 1908, for which he received the Coronation Medal in 1911. Sold with a quantity of copied service papers and other research.
