Military General Service 1793-1814, 6 clasps, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse (92nd Foot); Waterloo 1815 (1st Bat. 92nd Highlanders), with replacement silver clip and straight bar suspension, with silver slip bar inscribed, ‘Quatrebras’ and ‘Peninsula’, minor contact marks, good very fine (2) £2000-2400

Donald Skinner was born in the Parish of Tarbet in the county of Ross and enlisted with the 92nd Highlanders on 23 May 1807, aged 18 years. He was discharged in 1827 in consequence of ‘general health much impaired and of a weak ankle, further consumption, has also suffered from an infection of the chest’. His service papers record he had served at Arroyos dos Molinos 28 October 1811, Vittoria 21 June 1813, Battle of the Pyrenees 25 / 30 / 31 July 1813, Bayonne 13 December 1813, Helette 14 February 1814, Garvis 15 February 1814, Orthes 27 February 1814, Aire 2 March 1814, Quatre Bras 16 June 1815 and Waterloo 18 June 1815. Skinner died in Banff in 1876. Sold with copied service papers and other research.
