4643 Private W. Beatwell, 18th Hussars, was reported as missing in action at Sandspruit, 26 June 1900, but was later released by the Boers, and was wounded at Witpoort, 14 October 1900. Beatwell was discharged on 23 July 1901 and in 1904 was an occupant of a cottage in Tidenham, Gloucestershire provided by Colonel Manling for use by soldiers of the regiment who had been discharged medically unfit through wounds received in South Africa. Sold with some service details.
