Arthur Elias William Hunt was born in Mistley, Essex and enlisted at Southend-on-Sea. Serving with the 2nd Battalion Essex Regiment, he was awarded the M.M. for carrying messages under heavy shell and machine-gun fire during the Third Battle of Ypres, 9-13 October 1917. He was killed in action, aged 20 years, near Arras in France, 28 March 1918. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial. Sold with transmittal slips for the trio and plaque.
