Charles Stanley Anthony enlisted into the 5th Battalion Essex Regiment on 2 December 1914. As a Corporal with the regiment in the Egypt Expeditionary Force, he was wounded on 26 March 1917. He was discharged on 16 March 1918 on being granted a commission with the 1/4th Northamptonshire Regiment. He was killed in action in Palestine on 19 September 1918, aged 25 years. He was buried in the Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel. Sold with 14 sheets of copied service papers and original medal transmittal slip.
