J. L. Lewis joined the Army in 1914 and attained the rank of Major in February 1916. He served with the 10th Battalion Essex Regiment in France and latterly the 3rd Special Reserve Battalion in England. He was wounded three times and invalided in 1919. Sold with some copied service papers.
