Thomas William Double was born in Dedham and enlisted at Colchester, Essex. He was seriously wounded whilst serving in Gallipoli with the 1st Battalion Essex Regiment. He died of his wounds at sea on 19 September 1915. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey and the Dedham Village Memorial.
