‘Silver Medal and Vote of Thanks to James Briscoe, for assisting to stop a runaway horse attached to a lorry in Kensington, on 12th August 1908. In rendering this service Briscoe received severe injuries which necessitated his removal to the Royal Infirmary.’ (71st Annual Report, year ending 1.7.1910, page 10)
