George V (1910-1936), Crown, 1935 xxv, 28.15g/12h (ESC 3651 [375]; S 4050). Under and between the tut of tutamen can be seen the letters nnd in small impressed capitals, similarly between regni and xxv are the letters rep, good very fine, a highly unusual error and presumably excessively rare £300-£400

Extensive investigation by the Royal Mint at Llantrisant has failed to come up with any conclusive explanation for this error edge. The Mint confirms that the weight, fineness and composition of the flan are correct and that the ‘error’ letters appear to have been applied to the blank before the correct edge lettering. They even checked edge collars for coins that were being made for foreign governments at that time, without success
