Gustavus Adam, Baron Nolcken, FRS (1733-1812), Swedish diplomat in London from the mid-1760s and former chargé d’affaires in Berlin, lived at Richmond, Surrey. He was a personal friend of Gustav IV Adolf (1778-1837) and hosted the king at his villa in Richmond after Gustav was forced to abdicate in 1809
