Henry VII (1485-1509), Facing Bust issue, Halfpenny, Canterbury, Abp Morton, class IIIa, mm. Morton’s mark, single-arched crown, saltires by neck, m in centre of rev., 0.22g/6h (Withers 3A; N 1736/1; S 2247). Edge ragged between 3 and 6 o’clock, otherwise about very fine, very rare £100-£120

Although not mentioned in the Standard Catalogue, Frank Purvey identified this uncertain mark in a note in BNJ 1960-1, pp.190-2, where he described it as a profile eye. Withers opines that it might be an upright tun while the present cataloguer feels that on this specimen it resembles some kind of vessel or container, perhaps a censer or a pyx
