The Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Civil), 1st type, silver (Hallmarks for London, 1919); Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Cape Colony (Lt., W. Prov. M.R.); King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (Lieutenant); Jubilee 1935; Coronation 1937, these last two privately inscribed, ‘T. A. Sheldon’, the third renamed in small capitals, generally good very fine (5) £180-220
M.B.E. London Gazette 19 December 1918: ‘Thomas Aflred Sheldon, Esq., for valuable services rendered within the Union of South Africa in connection with the campaigns in German South-West Africa and German East Africa.’
Sheldon was not entitled to the King’s South Africa Medal.
