A Replacement Second World War M.C. pair to Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel J. D. N. C. Henderson, Royal Scots Fusiliers

Military Cross, G.VI.R. reverse officially dated ‘1940’, in modern Royal Mint case of issue; General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Palestine (Lieut., R.S. Fus.), in card box of issue, both pieces official replacements marked ‘R’, extremely fine (2) £250-300

John David Neil Campbell Henderson was born in 1912 and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant with the Royal Scots Fusiliers on28.1.1932. Promoted Lieutenant on 28.1.1935, he served in Palestine, being employed by the Colonial Office with the K.A.R. during 2.9.1937 - 31.8.1939. He was promoted Captain on 28.1.1940 and was Acting Major 1.4.1941 - 30.6.1941, becoming Temporary Major on 1.7.1941. He was awarded the M.C. in 1940. Promoted Major on 1.7.1946, he attained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel on 30.8.1946. Henderson was a qualified interpreter in both French and German.
