D.S.O. London Gazette 26 November 1917: ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of the front line. He organized the men of all units of the Brigade, who were mixed together, with energy and skill. He held on in the face of a heavy and accurate barrage.’
Christopher Alderson, who first entered the French theatre of war in February 1917, was also the recipient of a ‘mention’ (London Gazette 18 December 1917 refers). Appropriate records further confirm his entitlement to the Coronation 1937 in his capacity as a Major in the Gold Coast Local Forces.
