1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; Defence and War Medals, M.I.D. Oakleaf, unnamed as issued, mounted as worn; together with two identity disks, extremely fine (4) £200-250

M.I.D. London Gazette 23 January 1947.

Gunner Clifford Ratcliff, 48 / 21st Light A.A. Regiment Royal Artillery was captured by the Japanese on the island of Java in 1942. Sold with a quantity of original papers and documents including: Soldier's Release Book; M.I.D. certificate; and papers re. his M.I.D., posted 'missing' and his release; hand-written Menus (2) - 'Freedom Dinner 1945' and 'Jimmy Ratcliffe Farewell Dinner, 5th February 1945'; photograph of Japanese guards; other items include a pennant from H.M.S.
Implacable and a minute set of dominoes - possibly dating from the time he was a prisoner-of-war. A most interesting lot.
