Walter Joseph Winter was born in Walworth and served in the Tibet Expedition with the 1st Battalion Royal Fusiliers. In the Great War, serving with the 4th Battalion, Winter died of wounds, France / Flanders, 16.6.1915. His name appears on the Menin Gate Memorial.
