Four: Serjeant H. Bingham, Royal Engineers

Harry Bingham was born in Holymoorside, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire in 1881. A wireman and fitter by trade, in February 1902 he volunteered for one years service in South Africa. At the time of his attestation he was a member of the Electrical Engineers R.E. Volunteers. He served in the latter stages of the Boer War with that unit and was discharged in September 1902. He gained the Q.S.A. with four clasps having served 199 days, 138 of which were in South Africa. During the Great War, Bingham again saw service with the Royal Engineers, first entering France on 16.12.1915. He was discharged to the Z Reserve in April 1919. Sold with copied attestation and other research papers.
