Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 3rd issue, coinage head (K. 59778 A. Richards, Sto. 1, H.M.S. Centaur) contact wear, edge bruising and polished, good fine £20-30

Alfred Richards was born in Holborn, London in January 1893 and would appear to have served with the Royal Marine Engineers and R.M.L.I. during the Great War. Transferring to the Royal Navy in January 1921, he was appointed a Stoker 1st Class in May of the following year. Richards was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in December 1931, while serving in the cruiser H.M.S. Centaur.
