East and West Africa 1887-1900, 1 clasp, Witu August 1893 (F. Wherry, Lg. Smn., H.M.S. Swallow) suspension claw neatly refixed, good very fine £140-180

Frederick Wherry was born in Cornwall in November 1860 and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in April 1876. His subsequent appointment aboard H.M.S. Swallow during the Witu operations of August 1893 appears to have been his only active service and he transferred to the Royal Fleet Reserve as a Petty Officer 2nd Class in May 1904, his service record additionally noting that he was discharged dead in 1910.
