India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Pegu (Thos. Taylor, A.B., “Fox”) minor edge nicks, good very fine £100-120

Thomas Taylor was born in Gosport, Hampshire in March 1832 and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in January 1846. Advanced to Ordinary Seaman in September 1849, he joined H.M.S. Fox in August of the following year and went on to participate in the Pegu operations prior to removing to the Edinburgh as an Able Seaman n May 1854. Taylor gained further advancement to Leading Seaman in January 1855 and to Gunner’s Mate in January 1864 and would appear to have volunteered for a further period of continuous engagement, ‘to complete time to pension’, on coming ashore to the gunnery establishment Excellent in March 1868.
