Hammer Price:

South Africa 1877-79, 1 clasp, 1877 (Lieut. C. R. O’Flaherty, P.A.G. Rifle Vols.), with contemporary silver riband buckle, suspension slightly bent, edge bruising, otherwise very fine and rare £1800-2200

Gordon states one of 24 ‘1877’ clasps issued to Prince Alfred’s Guard Rifle Volunteers, out of a total of 110, the majority to Colonials. The advance against the Galekas did not start until late September 1877, hence the rarity of the appropriate clasp.
