Norway, Order of St Olaf, Grand Cross (3rd type) set of insignia by Tostrup, comprising sash badge, 88mm x 63mm, silver-gilt and enamels, and breast star, 80mm, silver, silver-gilt and enamels, complete with full dress sash and lapel rosette in its Tostrup case of issue, several points of star a little bent, otherwise nearly extremely fine £800-1000

Awarded on 28 April 1908. This is not the original set of insignia issued to Lord Hardinge, the Grand Cross insignia being returnable on the death of the recipient. This particular set was granted, circa 1950, by the King of Norway, on the petition of Helen, Lady Hardinge of Penshurst. Sold with a copy of the original 1908 award document and related translation.
