Lord Frederick Fitz-Clarence’s Shooting Badge for Native Soldiers of the Bombay Army 1852-54, silver badge in the form of a native soldier kneeling with raised rifle, 36mm x 40mm, the reverse impressed ‘Given by Lord F. Fitzclarence’, with small ring suspension, very fine and rare £80-120

Lieutenant-General Lord Frederick Fitz-Clarence was Commander-in-Chief, Bombay, from 1852 until his death in October 1854. Noted for his keen interest in shooting and matters military in general, he is known to have instituted a shooting badge for the garrison at Malta, when Governor, in 1830.
