Alfred Jenkins, the son of Alfred and Hephzibah Jenkins, of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, attested for the Royal Sussex Regiment and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front. He transferred to the Wiltshire Regiment, and was killed in action on 4 September 1917, whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion. He is buried in Torreken Farm Cemetery, Belgium.

George James Gale, the son of James & Ellen Hale of Pagham, Bognor, attested for the Royal Sussex Regiment, and served with the 7th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front. He was killed in action on 24 June 1918, and is buried in Harponville Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
