M.I.D. London Gazette 15 June 1916:
‘For gallant and distinguished conduct in the field.’

Harold James Sibley was born in Crewkerne, Somerset in 1891, the son of George and Elizabeth Sibley. He enlisted in the 1st Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment in Bath and served with them during the Great War in France from 20 July 1915. He was Mentioned in General Haig’s Despatch of 30 April 1916 and died of wounds on the Western Front on 25 May 1918.

Archibald Sibley, younger brother of the above, was born in Crewkerne in 1898 and served during the Great War with the Devonshire Regiment and the 9th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment.
