Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Officer’s Full Dress Dirk hall marked Edinburgh 1932, the 28.5 cm etched blade with single fuller and saw back edge is edged with regimental insignia and the GVR Royal cypher (retailer’s details obscured), the bog oak handle (damaged) with silver pins and facetted stone finial, the black leather scabbard with ornate detail to the chapes the top bears the cypher of Princess Louise on a ground of writhing beasts, the second chape with the boar’s head and motto and Chinese dragons, the third with a Cat a Mountain and motto on more Chinese dragons, the bottom chape with Celtic strap work and monsters, the reverse of the top chape with the owner’s initials ‘W.V.D.’, the knife and fork with bog oak handles and facetted stone finials, the blade with some surface rust patches, the knife and fork blades with rust, the spring mechanism on the knife and fork both lacking otherwise good overall condition £600-£800
