Canadian Memorial Cross, G.V.R. (426653 Pte. G. Hunter.) in case of issue, good very fine £70-£90

George Hunter was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on 20 July 1887, and served for two years in the Queen’s Edinburgh Volunteer Brigade, Royal Scots. Having emigrated to Canada he attested for the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force at Moose Jaw on 29 March 1915, and served initially with the 46th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, before transferring to the Bordon Motor Machine Gun Battery, Canadian Machine Gun Corps. He died on 29 September 1916, and is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, France.
