Alfred Wickens was born in Wasing, Berkshire, and attested for the Royal Berkshire Regiment at Newbury. He served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 27 July 1916, aged 19. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.

Thomas Henry Graves was born in Eversley Cross, Berkshire, and attested for the Royal Berkshire Regiment at Reading. He served with the 1st/4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 27 August 1916. He is buried at the Mill Road Cemetery, Thiepval, France.
