Edward Cornwell was born at Barnsbury, London, on 13 May 1884, and joined the Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class on 20 November 1905. By the outbreak of the War he had been advanced to Leading Stoker, became a Stoker Petty Officer in December 1915 and remained in this rate until demobilised on 20 March 1919. He joined the Royal Fleet Reserve on the following day and was finally demobilised again on 5 June 1921. He received three Good Conduct Badges but was not awarded the L.S. & G.C. medal. Sold with copied record of service.
