George Frederick Thomas Huntley was born in Orpington, Kent, on 24 March 1922. He attested for Royal Artillery (Territorial Army) at Woolwich on 4 May 1939, and served with them throughout the Second World War, before transferring to the Royal West Kent Regiment in November 1944, taking part in operations in Italy on the Gothic Line. He was awarded his Efficiency Medal per Army Order 3 of 1946, and was finally discharged on 1 December 1949. He died in Kennington, Ashford, Kent, on 24 August 2000.
